The "Forever" Server Philosophy
The biggest philosophy behind this server was to create something that could become the "Forever Server" for my friends and I to play Minecraft on. To that end, it's been kept as close to the retail release of Minecraft as much as possible, running unmodified server software and without the use of any plugins.
There are a number of quality of life tweaks made to the game - but thanks to Vanilla Tweaks, they're all done through the built-in data pack system that Mojang had developed. This lets me deploy the latest updates with minimal interruptions to the server availability for my community.
