Putting my stamp on it!

After nearly 10 years of my old logo, I thought it might be nice to rebrand my personal logo; taking some influences from my life since the last time I did a brand design for myself.

The original – took on the shape of a combination of Mjölnir, stylized to match major characters in my name “J T G” with the T being formed in negative space. Here’s a small example:

It was clean, simple and functional enough for the time 🙂 the shield style motif of the design matched the favoured idea of eSports teams, and superhero branding at the time (back in 2015/2016 it was peak Marvel cinematic universe time too).

But in the year of our Lord, 2026. I think it’s time for a change, and for something a bit more based around my life experiences now in recent years. Behold…

My “BIG JT” logo. The logo and emblem is based off the Chinese character “da” (which means Big) in Mandarin; and it’s a small nod to me trying to rediscover a bit more about my heritage. My partner is from Shanghai and she’s been a huge inspiration to me in life recently 🙂

Interestingly, a friend also used Google Translate on it, and it means “Big” in Spanish too according to it! 😂Just a happy coincidence! 🙂

The symbol also takes on a much more square shape, with a frame around it in the style of Asian signatory stamps that a lot of Japanese, Chinese and Korean people use, even to this day, on official documentation.

Its shape of course, is more “positively” pointed – going upwards, and it has a suggestion to it of something like the old Atari brand; much simpler of course, but again, another nod to my gaming hobby.

The characters are a little more defined – being the “J” and “T” simply from my initials.

All in all, I like the design, it’s a bit awkward moving to it from “ol’ faithful” – but the new logo is a change that I think was long coming, and it came along with the idea of starting to upload content to my YouTube channel.

I never thought I’d be any kind of content creator, and I don’t consider myself one; but I’ve started using my personal YouTube channel as a way to “log” and “archive” my adventures through various games, in the hopes that as I play them, I’ll record all the moments and have something to look back on in the future. Not to mention finally getting my money’s worth and reducing that “backlog of shame” on Steam 🤣
